Who We Are

A non-profit organization based in Shillong, Meghalaya, North East India, Faith Foundation is led by a dedicated team of young women professionals of the Indigenous Khasi tribe, working to ensure the safety of children and adolescents since 2013.It is with great purpose that we are called Faith, ‘FAITH’ means Faith in ourselves, Faith in our dreams, and Faith in the goodness of those with whom we work and partner.

Our organization follows a model of shared leadership and we share a common dream for the children and communities we serve, as well as values that serve to drive our progress. As well as our experience in social development, we are also guided by their local knowledge of the needs of communities that are vulnerable and exploited.

We pride ourselves on being a learning organization, meaning that we are always open to new ideas and opportunities and always reflect on our decisions and actions.

What We Do

We empower children and adolescents by engaging in life skills and personal safety education in schools, child care institutions, and communities, with the objective of reducing the risk and vulnerability of children and girls to abuse and exploitation.

We focus on prevention strategies that address abuse and exploitation.

We engage boys in gender-transformative programs to help them become gender-equitable so they can participate in violence prevention.

We have been working extensively on promoting a Personal Safety Education Program in Meghalaya. Through this school-based curriculum, every child is empowered to prevent themselves from sexual abuse and exploitation that they encounter silently.

We are also building community ownership processes within the communities we work with, focusing on the strengths of the communities to address child protection and child safety issues by enable the communities to develop their own plans on how to deal with the issues.

As of 2013, Faith Foundation’s mission has remained the same: to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
